3 Months Old

Yup, Phoenix was 3 months old yesterday! I managed to get my camera to work long enough to get a few pictures. It's still on the fritz so I'm planning on taking some pictures this weekend with my SLR... Anyway, here are the few that I managed to get.
DSCN7084

Phoenix is a super sweet boy. He likes to be held a LOT and on fussy days he hardly lets me put him down at all. Although he is getting a little better at sitting in his bouncy seat while I try to get stuff done around the house. Of course it helps that his sister is always willing to entertain him.

DSCN7086

He's a big boy, weighing in at over 14 lbs! He also can wear the same size diapers as Zadie. In disposables he wears a size 2 and she wears a size 3 - but this next time that we buy diapers we are just buying size 3's since they fit him pretty well (not big enough to leak or anything).

Phoenix loves his daddy and his sister. I've started to notice that when they are in the room he'll start looking for them, turning his head and trying to see them. I can usually get him to smile pretty easily and it just makes my day when his face lights up when he sees me. I think he might be a little bit more serious and introspective than Zadie is, but he's still pretty young so I could be wrong about that! I sure do love my sweet boy!

DSCN7090

...most of these were taken while we were playing outside. Or at least Zadie was playing. I was feeding Phoenix, burping Phoenix, bouncing Phoenix and just trying to keep him happy.

Anyway, things are going ok here. I'm really glad it's Friday...I'm ready for the weekend. Brett is playing at church again on Sunday. I love that he is able to play, but it does make things a little more difficult for me on Sunday mornings. I'll have to get up and load the kids up in the van so we can have Brett at church by 6:45 am. Then I'll head back home to get me, Zadie and Phoenix ready to leave for church by 9:30. It's not that bad...I usually strap Zadie into her high chair and put her in front of the 'Wiggles' with some toast and juice and then put Phoenix in his bouncy seat in the bathroom with me while I shower and get ready. The tricky part is when he decides to scream the whole time I'm getting ready. Getting the kids ready is the easy part...they'll have baths the night before so all I'll have to do in the morning is get them dressed (and probably wet down Zadie's hair). Anyway, it will take a little juggling, but we usually to get it together biggrin I'm wanting to take the kids to the zoo on Saturday. We've actually been wanting to for awhile, but most Saturdays for the last month or two have either been cold and rainy or we've been busy. Anyway, if we manage to go I'll try to get Nick's 3 month pictures there. I'm doing ok for the most part. I'm feeling pretty crappy, but I know it's temporary (hopefully) so I'm managing. Ok, I guess that's about it for now..I have dishes to do, diapers to wash, towels to fold and babies to take care of. I'm still trying to make it around to all your sites...don't give up on me...I won't be this busy forevericon_wink Happy Fridayicon_clapping

Well, Brett's parents left yesterday. It was a short visit (Sat. to Tues.) but it was really good. We didn't do a whole lot. On Saturday they took us out for an early dinner for Brett's birthday. Then on Sunday we went to church. Brett played (yes, he's playing regularly now!) so they got to see that. His dad plays Bass guitar also and was Brett's first teacher. It was sweet that he got to see Brett still playing. Then for dinner that night (after we all took naps) I made potato salad, broccoli, rolls, baked sweet potatoes, cake and we grilled steak. What a good dinner! I actually ended up going to bed pretty early on Sunday night, so that was nice. On Monday we didn't do much...in fact the only time any of us left the house was when I took Zadie on a Walmart run with me. We cooked some more, watched movies and played with the kids. It was nice to have a visit that was relaxing. Also...Papaw drives truck and, as some of you know, Zadie is fascinated with trucks...so we took some pictures of her and Papaw by the truckicon_mrgreen ok, on to the pictures.

Last night Brett gave Zadie her vitamins (liquid) and somehow they went down the wrong pipe and she REALLY choked on them. After we got her breathing again she just wanted daddy to rock her. So he spent probably about 1/2 an hour rocking her. She was generous enough to let Phoenix rock with them...

...and I have some bad news. I think my digital camera has finally bit the dust. SO that means that pictures will be few and far between (I still have my SLR but it's expensive to develop film) until we can come up with the money to replace it.
Ok, I'm off to try to make it to as many of your sites as I can with Nick is napping!

Well today is Monday. Brett's parents are still here and so far it's been a great visit. We really haven't been doing a whole lot, but honestly I think that's part of what makes it good. We are just hanging out, cooking, eating and playing with the kids  Here are a few pics that I've taken so far...

So my hubby's parents are getting here this morning. He's so excited. Funny that he expresses that excitement by taking the van to clean it out instead of helping me get the house ready (like washing the sheets for the bed they'll sleep on). I know, he's a boy. So I don't have time to write much...I gotta clean their bathroom, wash their sheets and finish picking up the house while Phoenix sleeps (Brett took Zadie with him). Our morning pattern is that after Phoenix gets up to eat (usually around 6 am which means that most nights he's sleeping ALL night, Praise God!) I put him in our bed and he sleeps for another few hours. While that happens I gulp my coffee, feed Zadie and get whatever else I can done before he wakes up. This morning I'm posting when I should be working!!icon_doh I know...not the brightest thing I've ever done. Ok, I'm off to clean...I'll leave you with a few cute picturesheartbeat

"What's that bright flashy thing?!? Oh, it's just mom taking another bazillion pictures of the cute boy..."

Dad taught her how to rinse her own hair and she thinks it's pretty cool...
DSCN6990

Yes, she's still in the dress phase. I got this cute one for $5 at Walmart.
DSCN6978

I've been letting her play in her room recently...she thinks its great fun to jump on the bed. (usually I've kept her room closed off because I can't see her in there unless I'm in the room with her. She finds trouble so fast that it was always just easier to keep her out by me...)

Oh, and of course she drug all her favorite toys in there...

Random Stuff

So yesterday was a pretty bad day here. I don't know what was wrong with Phoenix but he spent all day having melt downs. He would start crying for no reason that I could tell and would get hysterical until eventually he would wear himself out. He did this several times. None of the regular stuff worked. I tried rocking him, patting his butt, feeding him, changing his diaper, just holding him and anything else I could think of. I guess his reflux could be acting up, but he wasn't spitting up which is usually the first sign that it's hurting him. I sure hope today goes better. Poor Zadie, she got ignored a lot yesterdayshrug

I did manage to get a few cute pictures of Phoenix...

I'm done Mom, no more pictures.

Then I realized that even though he's only 2.5 months old he is actually wearing the same outfit that Zadie wore at 6 months old. Here's a couple pics of her in the outfit.

Does that tell you something about what a chunk he is??
Ok, here are a few pics of Zadie too. In this first picture I was trying to get her to sit by Nick so I could get a picture of the two of them. Of course she wouldn't cooperate. She still looks adorable though.
DSCN6919

Zadie's latest thing is dresses. She LOVES wearing dresses and asks to put them on every single day. My mom has been watching the thrift stores for cute dresses and she sent this one with my sister this weekend. Zadie was already dressed (you can see her shorts in one of the pictures) but she made me put this dress on her anyway. I trimmed her bangs yesterday too...they look cute in these pictures

We also got her some new shoes this week. We tried on about a million pairs but kept coming back to these. They are boys shoes but the are the only ones that stayed on her feet and that she could run and walk in well. She really just needed some shoes for playing outside this summer. She need dress shoes too but I haven't found any that I'm crazy about yet.
DSCN6939

So...I'm pretty excited that David Cook won American Idol! I honestly thought that David Archuletta would win, but I was pulling for Cook. Ok, Phoenix is awake and Zadie is jumping on the bed in her room so I should probably get going. Hope you all have a good Thursday!

*EDIT*
I just had to put these two pics side by side...I can't believe how much they look alike!!
